Dojo Tradition: Etiquette

The Purpose of Etiquette Etiquette List

Etiquette is an important part of the Dojo, and more importantly, it is a matter of respect. The etiquette that we practice in our daily interactions at the Dojo is way for the students to show respect to the instructors and the entire concept behind Martial Arts.

The Etiquette at the Dojo has been determined by the Instructors. It adheres to traditions from Japan and China--the origins of the Kenpo that we are learning. It is the responsibility of the elder students to teach and enforce the etiquette that we practice. The instructors should never have to correct beginning students: the elder students must model the etiquette of the Dojo.

Check back frequently. We will continually add etiquette items to the list until all of them are displayed. For new students, this is your opportunity to learn as much of the etiquette outside of the Dojo.
