Dojo Tradition: Overview of the Animal Influences

As tradition holds, The Shaolin monks traveled out into the wilderness and away from the protection of the monastery. On their journies, their task was to observe the animals in their elements and learn about their fighting techniques. After they learned the ways of the various animals, the monks were to return to the manastery, and incorporate those ways into their fighting techniques and training.

At the Dojo, our modern form of Kenpo is based upon the original animal influences incorporated by the Shaolin monks many centuries ago.
